Exhibitions, Collaborations & Process

Collage Work

Curiosity and continuous exploration are the tenants of my making. Geometry first and color forward, each collage is a filter for making sense of the world we live in.
Exhibitions & Collaborations

The exhibition space often isolates Graphic Design creations from the real world, from context (commercial, cultural, historic) and from the function that is necessary for reading and understanding them. I am interested in creating conditions that address this.

Astha Thakkar

Teaching Documents

Student work from DSGN 100: Elements & Principles of Design by Kira Jones, SCAD Now, Winter 2025.

This project explores Nōtan, a Japanese design concept that emphasizes the balance of light and dark shapes, translating form and space into a two-dimensional composition.

While maintaining an active studio practice, Thakkar serves as a full-time Professor at Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta. In her dual role, she mentors graduate graphic design students in capstone research and advanced research methodologies while fostering foundational skills in freshman students through color theory, visual design systems, design thinking and process.
