Image Juxtaposition

Course: GDVX 701 Design Research, Analysis, and Discourse | Winter 2024

In this exercise, students created 12 visual juxtaposition compositions, each measuring 6x6 inches and divided into two equal halves (3x6 inches), either vertically or horizontally. The challenge was to pair one image from the built world with one from the natural world to generate contrast and evoke a third, implied meaning through their interaction. The goal was to explore how combining seemingly unrelated visuals can lead to new interpretations and layered meaning.

*All works displayed here were created by SCAD students as part of assignments for GDVX 789 Thesis I: Research and Discovery | Winter 2024
